13 kids + 300 tokens = 1 tired man

Chuck E. Cheese’s is a great place for a kid to be a kid, and for a dad to be a a schizophrenic olympian. All you do is run around the place hearing “Daddy! Daddy!” the whole time. But the kids had fun! That’s all that matters, right? Who needs sanity anymore? It’s not like there is much left in the world anyway…

Chuck E Cheese Party

Sunday, February 26th, 2006

We had Maggie’s party at Chuck E Cheeses on Saturday from 10:00-12:00. We had 13 kids, used up about 300 tokens, ate pizza, ate cake, drank koolaid, and when all of that was gone we were out of there. I was totally exhausted and came home and crashed.

The MooMoo Turns Seven

Friday, February 24th, 2006

Maggie, my sweet little Button-Nose Princess, is seven years old today. Wow. She is growing up so fast. She has been so excited that today was her birthday. We went out for dinner, and I took her to the store to pick out anything she wanted. She picked out a new bike (the one she has is too small for her). So, undoubtedly, you’ll see pics of her riding it at some point here on the Smattering. Tomorrow is the big party at Chunky Cheeses [sic]. Maybe I’ll snap a shot of Evan whipping a skee ball at the little kid who keeps bumping into him, or of Eli booking towards the front door (and freedom) as fast as he can. Maybe I’ll get a pic of Micah cursing the air hockey table ’cause his stupid paddle won’t stop the puck. Yeah, or maybe I’ll just leave my camera at home…

Anyways, happy birthday MooMoo. We love you!

The Sickness Moves On

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Micah woke up this morning with a fever and terrible stomach pains. He had 103 fever most of the day and complained of his throat and head hurting. I went back into the urgent care clinic tonight with Maggie and Micah. I figured since Maggie was fighting a cold I might as well get her checked for strep too. Micah has a double ear infection and has strep throat too. Maggie did not have strep, but since it looked like she has a sinus infection they put her on an antibiotic which will take care of her sinus infection and make sure she doesn’t end up with strep throat.

Eli is doing better today. He is still very itchy with the rash covering his body. He is very clingy and grouchy, but looks much better than yesterday.
Evan has been trying to convince me that he is sick too. He is jealous of all the attention his brothers are getting. His turn is probably coming.

A Long Day

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

This has been such a long day. It started with about 3 hours of sleep for me. I couldn’t fall asleep last night due to an active baby trying to suck her toes, so I finally went out to the living room to sit and wait out her gymnastics. At about 11:00 I hear the boys tiptoing down the hall whispering, “Do you think they are asleep yet?” I just sat there and watched them in the dark for awhile. What little stinkers. Do they do this often? I would love to know what they do when we are sleeping. After watching them for a few minutes I barked at them and they flew back into their room.

I finally went to sleep around 2:00am just in time to be awaken by Eli crying. I held and rocked him for awhile, then about a half hour later Micah woke up crying. He has been having dreams or something because he has been waking up each night this week crying. I finally got a good couple hours of sleep after damon left for Bible Study at 5:30 am.

When I woke up at 7:15 I heard the boys again scooting chairs in the kitchen, giggling, and running up and down the halls. I got up to see what they are doing. I have learned from past experience not to ignore it when I hear them in the morning. They had packed a picnic and were going on a picnic in their bedroom. They had all kinds of food in their picnic basket. They even invited me to come with them. They had made all the chairs in the kitchen into a house with all their pillows and blankets out there. Who knows how long they had been up but they had trashed the kitchen.

The wind was making the chimney make noise and Evan informed me that I shouldn’t be worried or scared because Santa Clause was probably just in there making some jingle noises, but I would be ok. I am glad he was there to comfort me.

Then I took the kids to Julie’s so I could go to my ob visit. I had to have a non stress test today on the baby and everything looks good with the baby. I get to do those twice a week now so I will have lots of trips to the doctor for the next couple weeks. They are watching the baby closer than normal because of the gestational diabetes with this pregnancy. The perinatologis released me and is not making me come back since my blood sugars have been so good.

I noticed a rash on Eli today and when I got him home and put him down for his nap he was very fussy and feverish. When I got him up his eyes were swollen and his rash was covering his body. I decided to skip Bible study tonight and I got Damon to skip youth group and we took a trip to the doctors office. They took one look at him and thought it was strep. They did a culture and sure enough he has strep throat which has turned into Scarlet fever. He just got done taking antibiotics on Sunday because he had a light case a pneumonia before this. We started him on another antibiotic tonight. He looks just awful tonight and is burning up with fever. I am so glad we took him in and caught it at the beginning. I have a feeling its going to be a long night.

Sicko Eli

I am going to knock myself out with some Benedryl tonight and let Damon wake up and get up with Eli during the night. Hee Hee! :) Actually Damon gets up with the kids all the time. I was just not sleeping well last night so I woke up easily and got up before he heard them.

The best news of the day is that Travis (Damon’s brother) and Dawn had their twin baby girls, Mary and Elise delivered this morning by C-section at 30 weeks gestation. They are just 3 lbs, but look like healthy little girls. I think that is part of the reason I couldn’t sleep last night. I was nervous. The babies got a lot of prayer during the night though. Maggie, Micah, and Evan told me they had a prayer meeting this morning for their new cousins too. I thought that was sweet.
