MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. It is basically a support group for mothers with young children at a very isolating time during their lives. It can also be a really good outreach and support to single moms, military moms, and moms that don’t have family near and feel alone during those years with toddlers. The groups meet at churches usually a few times a month.
A few months ago I was asked if I would be on the steering team for a MOPS group that was going to be starting at our church. It is the first MOPS group to start in our town. I almost said no, but decided to give it a try and see how it went. A week after I agreed to the position, I was asked if I would want to go to Orlando to the MOPS convention. YES! That didn’t take much thought since the church was paying for the trip.
So, on Thursday, one other lady and I took off for Orlando early in the morning after only 4 hours of sleep. Thats about the most sleep I have gotten a night since. I get more sleep at home with kids than I did at the convention. We stayed very busy.
There were about 5,000 other moms at the conference. It was at an absolutely beautiful convention center called Gaylord Palms. There were actually alligators swimming around in the hotel.

They had awesome worship time, speakers, entertainment, and workshops. We also managed to make time for going to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, and Epcott in the evenings. I came back exhausted, but had so much fun. We are already trying to figure out how to take a big group next year.
