The Guys

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Micah and Evan don’t get much written about them on the blog these days. They finish their school work and then they are off and running from thing to thing. The things they are into right now are building forts, taking care of Micah’s web dog, playing Uno, playing X-box, playing transformers, building with legos and playmobil stuff, doing puzzles, running around in their underwear, and playing war with guns.

Today it is war. They have their guns out and are running around pretending they are in war. I got them to stop long enough for a picture. Then they insisted that I get a picture of both of their guns being fired (with the bullets in the air). I thought it would be hard to do, but I got it in my first picture.

Crazy Cousins

Meredith and Eli are a hoot when they get together. It took them like an hour to eat their lunch today because they were so busy being silly. I think they were playing “who can make the funniest face”.

Water Park 2008

Monday, January 28th, 2008

We planned a trip this year to help us through our winter cabin fever. On Friday morning, the Weyand family (friends of ours) and the Duehring family headed to Hutchinson to Kansas Splashdown which is an indoor water park. We got 2 adjoining hotel rooms where we could look out and see the entire waterpark.

My sister from Hutchinson brought her kids over to swim on 2 of the days so there were 12 kids having a blast together. Molly spent the weekend at Gramma’s house (just a mile away). She had fun having all of gramma and grampa’s attention for a few days.

On Sunday, after checking out of the hotel we went over to my parents for lunch. While we were there we had a little birthday celebration for Maggie and Eden. The whole weekend was kind of planned to celebrate their birthdays which are about a month and a half apart. Rachel gave them each a best friend necklace with pictures of them together inside of the locket. Those two girls are always making “best friends” cards for each other.

I think we successfully burned some energy out of the boys who have been bouncing off of the walls for weeks now.

Another First

All 5 children asleep on a road trip at the same time for at least a half an hour. This is a miracle to say the least! It is a rare occurance to have even one sleeping child in the Duehring van.

Why such exhaustion???? I will fill you in with the next post.
