cut

I saw Eli sneak out of bedroom last night and then run back to his room really fast. By the time I got there (like immediately) some damage had already been done. Who knows how bad it could have gotten had I not seen him. The boy uses scissors every day with his crafts and then suddenly decides to cut his hair in the dark in his bed. He isn’t the first of our kids to chop their hair. Maggie chopped her bangs several times and Evan chopped his hair right before a wedding he was in. I am hoping Molly skips this stage.

Molly on the other hand takes after her brother Micah with her obsession with markers. When Micah was 2 he colored everything in our house. Molly comes in a close 2nd with marking up the most things around the house. Today she decided to color her clothes and legs.

What is the obsession with sleeping on the floor? They all have such nice soft beds and we still find them sleeping on the floor.

Mission Accomplished

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

We took a day off from school today and headed to the mall first thing this morning to check out Lenscrafters. On my way into the mall I ran into Eyemasters and they got my business… only because they were the closest to my entrance.

They told me that if I could find something that fit him that they had in stock they could have the glasses made in 2 hours. They also told me that I could get a second pair free. So, we went through every pair they had and found 2 that would work (one being flexible glasses).

So, one carousal ride, 500,000 escalator rides, 3 elevator rides, 5 pieces of food court pizza, 1 experience with “pretend we build a bear”, 3 bathroom trips, 1 ring cleaning, 1 encounter with the security guard (yeah, it’s true)… Eli is now the proud owner of 2 pair of glasses. (in 14 business days it will be 3 pair)

Houston, We Have a Problem

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Eli’s glasses broke today. First time ever for him to have broken glasses. (Magic Twist piece of junk) I knew it was coming. Everyday when I try to tighten the arm so it isn’t sticking straight out it gets looser and looser. Today they just fell apart in my hands.

So, I loaded up the kids and headed to the Eye Place. They told me that I have to wait 10-14 BUSINESS DAYS to get the replacement pair AND they keep the broken pair.  I asked her if there was anything we could do since he can’t see squat without his glasses (not to mention that his eye will turn all the way into his head after one day without glasses). She said “NOPE thats why it is a good idea to have a second pair.” Well, that is just lovely!

So, I spent the rest of the day trying to find out how we can buy a second pair that we can get like RIGHT now. Lenscrafters is the only thing I have found so far and they aren’t sure if they have frames that will fit a 4 yr old. I will be dragging the kids there tomorrow to check it out. Fun times!

As I was loading him up for Awana tonight he said, “I sure can’t see very good without my glasses”. Poor little guy.

Any ideas or suggestion would be very welcome.
