It is already Grand Prix time of the year again. I don’t exactly enjoy this event, but the kids do so that is all that matters. Right?
First of all it means that the night before the event Damon (the procrastinator that he is) has 1 hour to quickly carve the cars and get them to weigh the perfect amount. Then we shove them off to the kids who quickly decorate them.

Second of all this lovely sport always falls on Wednesday night which means I have to take all the kids (Damon teaches youth that night) and try to control Molly and Eli while watching the race along with 100’s of screaming kids. It could seriously drive you mad.
And last but not least our cars never do well. Some parents are really serious about this sport and spend weeks on these cars to make sure they look beautiful and that they will win against all of our loser cars. We are just lucky to get our cars there. Hopefully our kids are at least learning good sportsmanship from this yearly race.
Micah’s car did win 1st place for “original design”. That kind of shocked me with all the fancy cars there. I was told that one of the reasons he won is because he actually made his own car unlike most cars that the parents make for the kids. I personally think it was because he is awesome with markers and has been practicing with permanent markers since way back when he started coloring the walls and the carpet at age two. He has years of experience with this stuff.

Maggie asked that her daddy buy her special PINK paint for her car instead of the normal white color they usually paint them. Her car was beautiful. She would have tied with Micah if I had been the car judge.

Poor Evan! Four cars would race at a time in each bracket. Evan got 4th almost every single time(he made 3rd a couple of times). The little guy thought he was going to walk away with the 4th place trophy at the end of the night. He was a little disappointed.
