Old Stuff

I cleaned out some drawers yesterday and decided it was time to throw all my panty hose away since I haven’t worn panty hose for over 10 years. It is hard for me to throw stuff away ya know? My kids didn’t even know what they were. Anyway, shortly after I was done I found Eli walking around the house like this.

First Run of 2009

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I have taken a little break from races for a few months, but finally did another one yesterday. I decided to do one in January to make sure I didn’t slow down on running during these freezing cold winter months. It worked for me.

I came across this 10K cave run. The race is the only complete underground race in the USA. It is down in the caves where the temp year round is about 65-70 degrees. It was perfect for running. There were about 3,500 that did the race.

A friend came along to video tape and take pictures. I told her what time to expect me at the finish line since I run 10Ks in the exact same time every time. I came in within 15 seconds of when I told her I would be at the finish line. I did beat my previous time by about 30 seconds only because I wanted to beat my old time so I started my sprint to the finish line a bit earlier than normal.

It was a fun race and I would definitely do it again. Here are a few pictures.

The starting line up was a bit crowded. We are back by the 9 min mile sign somewhere.

Maggie’s Newest Hobby

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Maggie has a new hobby. It is knitting. She has always wanted to try knitting but me being the non-knitter that I am just really haven’t given her a chance to learn.

For Christmas she was given a knitting kit. She tried to figure it out and was having a hard time with it. Then I found out that Rachel takes her girls to a home school knitting group that meets on Thursday afternoons. Maggie has started to go with them and she LOVES it. There are some high school girls in the group that help the younger girls learn.

Gramma Tucker, she is really excited to come and learn from you so you had better brush up on your skills before she comes in February. She would be most happy to sit and knit with you all day. She has so many questions and I have no answers for her.

Her first learning project is a scarf she has started working on. She has doubled the length of it since I took this picture.
