This week we went to Hutch to hang out with my mom for a few days while my dad was in Canada fishing. After being there for less than 2 hours Molly asked my mom if she was still married. I guess she noticed someone was missing around there.
Sunday night we had a church picnic/swim party. Eli went off of the diving board for the first time without a life jacket. Then he went off of it about 6 more times. He is getting pretty good at getting around in the deep water.

On the way home from the picnic I saw that bad storms would be moving in during the night and so I took off that night at 8:30 for Hutch. It was an easy trip since the kids were so tired from swimming. They slept almost the whole way.
I sent my two youngest boys to “Aunt Berta School” (that would be “Aunt Beeta” to Eli) while we were down there. She was my teacher when I was little and I asked her to help me out for a week with my little boys.
The kids had fun playing with the Lanker kids while they were there since they are still not in school like everyone in our area. They wanted me to show their cool creations on the blog so here they are.

One of my reasons for leaving town was so that Damon could paint the boys room and paint the girls beds. We are still in a major room transition around here and it is a mess.
The boys wanted an orange room. This is the best we could do for them. The room is mostly blue with orange under the shelf part of the room or whatever you call that space waster part of the room. Right now they have 3 twin mattresses on the floor and that is all that is in the room. They love it. It is like a huge trampoline. Today they used the 3 mattresses to make a giant fort.

Damon is still in the process of painting the other bunk bed set white and we will be using it as two twin beds in the girls room. In like a month when we are finally finished I will show pictures of the finished rooms.
We started school on Aug 1st so we are in the middle of A LOT right now. We have a new school student this year. Eli Jacob Duehring has entered Kindergarten. Can you believe it? His desk already broke on the second day of school so that is another project on Damon’s to do list.

So, that is a little jumbled up account of what has been going on this past week.
What else am I doing right now? I am training for a 1/2 marathon which I will be running with my mom and 3 sisters. It will be my moms first race and we decided it would be fun to do it with her. I am also training for a triathlon that is in Sept. I have signed up to go on a missions trip this fall to an orphanage in Costa Rica for 9 days. We are still figuring out all the details but I am committed to going and my plane ticket has been purchased.
So, I am a very busy momma these days.
